So What's Next UPDATED
As we noted earlier, we have now come full circle since we first stumbled upon the Casey Skyberg Racing team at the Arizona Speedway/Queen Creek, in January of 2020. (Pre-Covid - remember those days??)
We saw more of the midwest United States than we ever could have imagined. We met good people along the way, at and away from race tracks.
Lorna realized her lifelong dream (I think) of spending as much time in a camp trailer as we did at home. We went to bed in a state of total exhaustion regularly, only to rise the next day to do it all over again. Bliss!
As posted before, we recently completed the winter swing in Arizona. The boys have returned to South Dakota where temperatures have been below zero 24 hours a day for days at a time.
Had some good days in AZ, and some not-so-good days.
On the bad days, we banged it all back out, replaced what was needed, and went on.

We tend to prefer the good days! |
But in general we race at night, hit the sack, and get up the next day to do it all over again.
Sometimes even have a visitor along the way!

Long time friend Judy made a visit @ Queen Creek |
And in fairness I must say that Lorna works as hard as I do in the process. She regularly tidies up around the place, not just with the race car but also in the rig.

Spotless!! |
And she might be the best rubber-pickin tire tech out there. Wow!
What's next? Casey had decided not to run the USMTS series for the coming year, as it was a LOT of work and a LOT of travel. Not to mention that we weren't setting the world on fire toward the end of the season!
When they recently unveiled the USMTS 2021 Schedule, with 36 races as opposed to the 53 that we did last year, also disclosing significantly higher payouts - including $10,000-to-win Main Event money at most venues, he got a bit interested.
Then we had some pretty good runs at the Arizona tracks. The die was cast.
Wade is back at the shop getting things ready.
The cars have new, fresh wraps.
Including perhaps an acknowledgement of a couple of goons that, in spite of it all, are still Chasin Racin.
And so we are off . . . . next week (Feb 26,27) we race again at Crandall, TX. (This having been revised in the last couple days, was to be Crandall then Ennis but the latter had to withdraw, so they added a race at Crandall)
Next event after Texas is Humboldt Kansas Speedway on the 26th/27th of March.
We shall be there too, and keep you informed of the happenings.
Thanks for staying tuned. I know it's been sporadic, and will be at times in the future. But please check in to see how it's going.
Next report should be from Crandall.
D & L.
UPDATE: The races originally scheduled for this weekend (Feb 25) have been postponed due to rain - like 1 or 2 inches today - and been rescheduled for next weekend at Crandall Friday and Greenville TX Saturday.
Wow, thanks for the great update......and pictures. I’m having fun following you two nomads via this blog. Keep up the good work, and lots of luck for the race team. Be safe, stay healthy.
ReplyDeleteWhew, glad the journey continues! Thanks for the reports & keep on chasin...
