First Day of Fall - Still Chasin
Our last race was Crandall, TX on the 13th. Since then we have been "camping" in the driveway at mom's house in Stillwater, OK.
She is 93, and imprisoned at the Brookdale assisted living facility in town, just a few miles from here, where visitation is currently limited to "window" chats through the one outside window in her apartment. This is accomplished with a telephone or chromebook inside her room, neither of which she fully understands or tolerates particularly well, and your cell phone on the outside. Through a window with glare, which can't be opened due to the "C". While it's nice to see her, it is an awkward process at best. She sometimes seems to recognize who's peering through her window, and can carry on a very slow paced, often confusing conversation for a while. Has the ability to move randomly from one topic to another, followed by a long pause and blank stare. At other times, she will make comments that are relevant and make perfect sense. Go figure.
Makes sense that most of these places are one-floor only. Otherwise this, I suppose, would involve ladders or a bucket truck! Anyway, it IS a visit.
While here, we have been playing tennis 3 mornings a week for a couple hours, with a group of "regulars" of Mike & Suzanne. There are also some nice bike trails in the area. We "earn our keep" by helping mow and trim the 2-house property, assisting Mike with power-washing mom's house, and going through the garage to eliminate unnecessary stuff. Has been a nice stay with great weather, and Lorna's favorite: Coyotes, close and loud, each night as we hit the sack. Perfect!
Will be leaving Thursday morning, headed for our last run up north (Minnesota). Filled up last night - - can't say I mind the fuel prices here.
The Race schedule has changed somewhat for the remainder of the Year:
Deer Creek Speedway, Spring Valley, MN Sept. 25 & 26 USMTS
(Cancelled: Texas Motor Speedway Oct. 9 & 10)
Tri-State Speedway, Pocola, OK Oct. 29 (Friday) **
Lakeside Speedway, Kansas City, KS Oct. 30 **
81 Speedway, Park City, KS Oct. 31 **
Humboldt Speedway, Humboldt, KS Nov. 1 **
** These would be non-USMTS, but USRA sanctioned non-points races.
RPM Speedway, Crandall, TX Nov. 5, 6 & 7 - - final USMTS scheduled points race.
The Skyberg group would leave Crandall on the 7th of November and head for Las Vegas, to participate in the "Duel in The Desert" event which runs from Nov. 10th thru the 14th at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
Then, of course, there's the 5th annual Arizona Dirt Track Tour which runs from the 29th of January thru the 6th of February, 2021.
And we've come full circle!
Will close this mess out with some random pictures from the archives, and we'll keep you posted as the season draws to a close.

My aunt same age as your mom, and is also in assisted living in Missouri and my cousins can only visit her at her window. Sad days we are living in. Thanks for update.
