Silver Dollar Nationals - Greenwood NE
This 4-day race closed out last night with a 101 lap Main event for the Lucas Oil Late Models.

Can't tell you what a used rig costs, or even a new one for that matter. Would hate to guess, but will
Brandon Sheppard, of New Berlin IL managed to fend off Ricky Thornton, Jr. to take the Win, as well as the $53,000.00 prize money. Ricky will have to settle for the roughly $20 G second place cash. Good race with plenty of action up to the end.
As for the USMTS modifieds, Casey ran 4th in the Heat race and finished 15th (of 25 cars) in the Main.
Good racing here, too, in front of about 2500 fans. Next up: Mason City, IA next Tuesday thru Thursday.
We are in an RV park about a quarter mile from the track. Walking back one morning, we passed a shop that appeared to work on Semi trucks and trailers.
Turns out it is the (one and only) location of S & S
Welding. This is the birthplace of Casey's big
Toter (hauler) and Trailer. They also just finished
a new custom rig for Joe Duvall.
Not only did they allow us into the shop, but gave
us a tour of the compound, allowing us to take all the pictures we wanted.
there discussing terms and possibilities for a rig
for their team.
There is a 2 Year waiting list for new units.
We have heard that this is what keeps the resale value of the rigs relatively high - if you want one NOW you've gotta buy a "used" model.
give you a ball-park figure in a future post once we
there are about a dozen employees, working on
various stages of construction. They were all very
polite, considerate and tolerant of our little
intrusion.
Very nice, accommodating people here - make you
feel right at home.
Do they depreciate?
Not really. Because of the wait for a new unit,
the resale value remains very comparable to the
cost of a new one.
In fact, we've been told that money can be made
by placing an order for future delivery (with a significant deposit, I'm sure) while knowing that
the resale value of your current S & S hauler could
possibly cover the cost of the new unit once it is built.
Today is moving day. Headed for Mason City, plan to get there tomorrow, maybe.
Cheers!! D & L
