Hoarding Quarters

When you travel with people who race on dirt you collect quarters along the way.  Then you spend them at laundromats and car washes every chance you get.  So we are Sequestered at Nelson's Landing RV Park in Nelson, WI., where there is ample quarter dumping opportunity.

We are just east of the Mississippi River, and about ("aboat" up here!!) 30 miles north of the Mississippi Thunder Speedway where we raced 3 weeks ago.  The area and the towns along the river are very picturesque and apparently a popular summer tourist attraction.

Boats and barges travel this part of the river and
can be easily observed as they make their way through the various locks along the way.

Our mini-break is due to the cancellation of the
Park Jefferson race at N. Sioux City, SD. which was to occur today.  Saved us a few miles on the odometer and allowed us to be tourists briefly.  Tomorrow we travel to our next event at Stuart IA.

One racing note:  We raced at Cedar Lake Speedway this past weekend in New Richmond, WI.  They ran 3 classes:  Modifieds, Late Models, and the similar Limited Late Models with smaller engines and different specs.  All of them are quite fast on this track, how fast depending on the track prep IMO.
On Saturday the winner of the second Heat race of the Limited Late Models was #50 Gavin Tarras.  He went on to start the Main Event in the 4th position, out of 21 total cars.  It was a very competitive race and at one point looked like Gavin might make a pass to win, but he finished in 2nd place.
Gavin Tarras is 13 years old.  Thirteen!  Good grief, that'll make you feel Old.

In contrast, when we were at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, MO,
Kenny Schrader pitted next to us.  He had the same "Lethal" modified chassis that we use, is a former Nascar driver, and is 65 years old.

A sport for all ages, I guess.

On to Iowa, will let you know . . . . .
