Chasin Racin Vacation

As we mentioned before, the USMTS Series is taking a scheduled break - we will return to racing on
July 21 at Oskaloosa, IA, followed by a 2-day show at I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, NE.
Casey, on the other hand, has been busy.
When we (Lorna & Doug) visited the motorsports complex in Rapid City a few weeks back, they had just received the new "Lethal" modified chassis from David Stremme.  During that week at the shop we concentrated on getting the (old) Mod and the Late Model both ready for Cedar Lake in Wisconsin.  But Doug was able to do some basic stuff on the new car, like packing wheel bearings, setting up brakes, etc.

We had not yet raced the new car as we entered this break.  But after Webster City, they were back at the shop getting the new Modified ready to run under IMCA specs.

Wade, pictured here at an earlier race, is very experienced and adept at making the cars race-ready.  He and Casey prepared the new Mod for an IMCA race this past weekend in Billings, MT.
Unfortunately, due to the untimely passing of Wade's father last Wednesday, he was not able to travel with Casey.  We were all saddened by this unfortunate event, and hold the Bahr family in our thoughts and prayers.

Casey traveled alone to Billings and ran this new car for the first time.  His performance was impressive.  Friday night he started the 3rd Heat in the fourth position, and moved up to WIN the race.  He went on to win the A Main as well!  Great night!
Then on Saturday at the same track he won the 2nd Heat after starting fourth.  After a re-draw, he was started in 8th position in the A Main.  Again, he moved up to WIN the race, and in fact had lapped many of the cars by the end of the race.  It should be noted that there were about 32 Modifieds entered each night.  Great job, Casey!

Needless to say, Casey is very happy with the new setup.

We all look forward to getting back together.  We will keep you informed as to the team's plans and schedule as they develop.  Thanks for checking in.

  1. Sorry to hear about Wade’s father.
I’m thinking after these results, Casey may want to fly solo from now on?
